Water / Soil / Carbon / Soot

Water

A.E.S. can sample and analyze various types of drinking water, waste water and groundwater concerns related to: bacteria, chloride, corrosion, detergents, hydrogen sulfide, metals, pesticides and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Soil

Soil may contain a list of contaminants, including PCBs, asbestos and lead. Lead in the soil is hazardous and more common than most of us imagine. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), a speck of lead dust, as small as a grain of sand, is enough to poison a child. Lead poisoning affects everyone, but most especially children, pregnant women and pets.

If you live in a pre-1978 built home, or in a neighborhood that has older homes, it’s important to test your soil for PCBs, asbestos and lead. If you think you might have environmental hazards in your water or soil, we can help.

A.E.S. can perform various types of soil testing for containments including: fertilizers, metals, petroleum products, PCBs and asbestos. Since A.E.S. is limited to just consulting and testing, and not restoration or remediation, you can be confident our evaluation will be unbiased and accurate.

Carbon Black / Soot

Also referred to as “ghosting” and “dirty house Syndrome”, Carbon Black has become an increasing problem indoors in residential as well as in commercial properties throughout the U.S. Carbon Black particles measure less than 1 micron (µm) in size and can impact the smallest areas of the lung. Carbon Black particulates suspended in the air put occupants at risk through inhalation. Candle burning indoors has been recognized to produce Carbon Black particulates which have been found to have been responsible for the aggravation of those suffering with respiratory illness. Carbon Black/Soot is a product of incomplete combustion through petroleum based products. A.E.S. performs combustion by-product surveys such as carbon black and soot for commercial and residential structures.
